The Criterion Collection, known for its excellent dvd editions to classic films from around the world have announced their first foray into high defintion media. The first releases will begin to hit store shelves in October. The editions will include high definition picture and sound and include all the extras of the original dvd editions in standard definition. Here's the intial listing of releases: 
Meet The Spartans fights its way onto Unrated DVD and Blu-ray Disc (BD) June 3rd from Fox Home Entertainment. 
Paramount has finally revealed its intial Blu-Ray line up of titles for May and June and will also be re-releasing some titles it had available before they went HD-DVD exclusive. The new titles are all recent releases and include Academy Award winning There Will Be Blood and Dreamworks "Bee Movie". Here's the entire listing:
Universal,a staunch defender and backer of HD-DVD, has announced its initial Blu-Ray disc releases, which will hit stores on July 22.
This 90's action flick blends police drama with extreme sports with stars Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, and Gary Busey. There are no Blu-Ray exclusives announced but the disc will contain the original DVD extras. Here they are>>>
Fox Home Entertainment and Chris Carter have put together yet another compilation of X-Files episodes, this time titled "Revelations", which will be brought out in a timely fashion to promote the upcoming X-FIles theatrical film. Here's the line up of episodes for this two disc set...
The sci-fi show that flopped the first time around but has received a cult-like following on video will be brought out on Blu-Ray in a deluxe package set from Fox. One of the stars recently commented that they had been contacted to contribute to the new DVD and Blu-Ray set. No release date has been announced or whether it will include the follow up Serenity, which was on HD-DVD.
