The story in a nutshell: A bumbling superhero named Awesome-X tries to stop a non-human villain named Killface from destroying the world with a machine called the Annihilatrix. Throughout the surreal and downright odd 13 episode season, you can expect to see such things as shattering cereal bowls, Awesome-X’s team of heroes called the X-ticles, death rabbits, clones, nerds, a half-man, half-lobster, and an ant woman named Antagone.

When it comes to Adult Swim shows, they either work or fail miserably. Thankfully, “Frisky Dingo” is one of the growing network’s best shows right now (the other being “Robot Chicken”). Creators Adam Reed and Matt Thompson, who also helmed the brilliant “Sealab 2021,” have made a wildly inventive animated comedy that is unlike any superhero spoof that we have seen. Instead of having clear good and evil characters, everyone in the show is equally warped and mad which is part of the fun.

Another reason the show is successful is because it contains a surprising amount of characterization. Most Adult Swim shows are repetitive stoner comedies in which the characters never grow or develop, but here even the secondary characters (like the freak Ronnie) are given a fair amount of screen time.

Conclusion: Obviously, this brand of humor is not for everyone. However, for anyone who appreciates weird nonsensical humor, I implore you to give this show a shot.
