"The Dracula Saga" sucks.

The story: Hans and his wife Berta (the pregnant granddaughter of Count Dracula) are going on a trip to the Count’s castle. Upon arriving at the castle, Berta begins to have uneasy feelings about the place, but her husband assures her nothing is wrong. As it turns out, Berta’s fears were justified as she begins to discover the disturbing secrets behind the Dracula family. Will she and Hans survive? What will happen to the baby? All is revealed in the end.

I didn’t think it possible, but “The Dracula Saga” rivals “Van Helsing” as one of the absolute worst vampire films. Aside from some attractive nude vampire ladies, there is nothing remotely likeable here. The main problem is that the story moves at a snail’s pace. It takes nearly 30 minutes for Berta to arrive at the castle and another 10 minutes before she finally meets the residents. After that, not much happens aside from a birth, a few deaths, and a couple scenes with a Cyclops child (don’t get me started on that). Throw in some wooden acting and a scene with a laughable vampire bat face makeup and you’ll be hard pressed to refrain from hitting the eject button. Avoid at all costs folks.

Ricco The Mean Machine

Category: Quick Reviews
The story: After getting out of the joint, Ricco seeks revenge against a powerful crime boss named Don Vito who stole his lovely lady and killed his father. Will he be successful or fail in the process? "Ricco The Mean Machine" is your typical mind-numbing revenge flick filled with goofy fist fights, bloody violence, and plenty of female nudity. While this all sounds well and good for cult/70's cinema fans, the movie has one major problem: Ricco, the hero of the story, is not a mean machine. Ricco can best be described as a moronic wimp who looks more like a surfer or a hippie. Ricco is so moronic in fact that his actions manage to get his family and friends murdered. Call me picky, but if you're going to use a title like "Ricco The Mean Machine," the title character better be one mean bad-ass. This is false advertising at its worst. Note: Squeamish viewers may want to avoid this film as there are violent scenes of a man being shot in the head, people being tossed into acid, and a male genital being cut off. The widescreen picture quality and the Dolby Digital 2.0 Mono track look rather good. For an obscure 70's action film, the restoration team has done a commendable job in cleaning up the audio and video. Extras: A theatrical trailer and a must see 18 minute featurette titled "Mitchum The Mean Machine." This featurette features an interview with Christopher Mitchum as he looks back on his film career, working with John Wayne, etc.
