In 1980 Werner Herzog set off to make the greatest film of his career "Fitzcarraldo" with Mick Jagger, and Jason Robards in tow. Like many things in life it did not work out as planned, but as many things settle the landscape of this rich film turned out to be better than he ever imagined. This may just be Herzog's most personal work, and in many eyes his best.
