Featured Review
 "Night Court," of course, was one of the shows which helped NBC dominate the ratings every Thursday night throughout the 80s, part of a powerful line-up that included "The Cosby Show," "Family Ties" and "Cheers." Of those shows, "Night Court" was probably the weakest of the lot, and judging by the quality of the first season, would likely have been cancelled had NBC originally aired it on another night. While it eventually became a great show in its own right, there isn't a lot to differentiate "Night Court" from any other "wacky" sitcom being produced at the time. As such, this two-disc set of the first season serves better as a period piece than actual entertainment. Sure, it has its funny moments, but the show didn't really hit its stride until later on.
