Featured Review
The story: Failed hockey player Happy Gilmore decides to take up golf in hopes of winning enough money to save his grandmother's house from being repossessed. Can Happy make it as a pro-golf? Will his angry, hot headed behavior get him kicked out of the league? Even if you are not an Adam Sandler fan, you can't deny that "Happy Gilmore" is one of his best films to date. While the spastic Sandler provides many laughs, it's the supporting cast that makes the film rise above mediocrity. Richard Kiel (Jaws from the James Bond series), the assy Christopher McDonald, the wooden handed Carl Weathers, Bob Barker (as himself), Joe Flaherty as the "jackass" heckler, and Julie Bowen (as the love interest) are all pitch perfect in their roles. The real scene stealer, however, is Ben Stiller as the retirement home employee. Normally, I'm not much of a Stiller fan, but he makes a good villainous character. How can you not laugh at the "You can trouble me for a warm glass of shut the hell up" line? The 1.85:1 Hi-Def widescreen transfer is nice aside from a few compression issues. The Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio track is also decent enough, although the track is not going to blow anyone away. Extras: * 5 minutes of outtakes. * 20 minutes of deleted/extended scenes. A lot of these scenes are merely filler, but there are a few notable scenes with the caddy, Ben Stiller, and Carl Weathers.
