Review

This anime title from ADVFilms is more than just good anime. The writers for these two 24 minute shows are very talented and had me hooked after five minutes. They brought life into the characters, which were totally believable and full of human feelings and weaknesses.
The first two episodes are included in this disc and begin with the creation of Galley, an android built from parts found outside "Iron City" by her creator, Zalem. Iron City is teeming with android life and its Zalem's night job to look for spare parts and take them from evil androids. Galley follows him one night and discovers this and soon they are partners. Galley soon befriends a young man and begins to experience feelings in her human side for the boy. He dreams of being able to reach the floating city which seems unobtainable. Galley hopes to find a way to help him reach his dream. The disc contains the first two episodes in the series-Rusty Angel, and Tears Sign. The storyline for the two episodes does conclude at the end of the second episode so you are not left hanging.

Picture and Sound

Picture-ADV Films gets high marks for the transfer. Simply excellent color and sharpness. Although its animated, the fullscreen picture doesn't suffer from the usual jaggies that animated features have. All the lines are clean and distinct. I found the animation to be typical anime, nothing spectacular but a few 3-d effects are used in some scenes and most of the feature is well drawn, with greater detail surrounding the characters faces. Sound-While only 2 channel Dolby stereo, the sound on this disc is rich and full. The stereo separation is good and the dubbing from Japanese to English excellent. It would have received an A if it had surround sound but the 2-channel sound is well done.

Extras

http://advfilms.com/ 12 promotional previews from ADV Films, animated menus, web links, and altercate angles for Japanese credits are included. Nothing too thrilling but the previews are nice to see. The menu system is also very well done with a techno theme.

Summary

ADV Films has a real winner with this title. The characters were very well developed and the story was easy to follow. Galley is a perfect heroine and is passionate, strong, and convincing. Highly recommended for anime fans.
