Review
"Gunfight At The O.K. Corral" boasts some of Hollywood's biggest stars, starting with Kirk Douglas as Doc Holliday, and Burt Lancaster as Wyatt Earp. Also in the cast are Rhonda Fleming, as Earp's girl, Jo Van Fleet, as the tortured "sometimes" girl of Doc Holliday, John Ireland as Johnny Ringo, Dennis Hopper, and also a pre-Star Trek DeForest Kelly. This western epic was produced by Hal B. Wallis, directed by John Sturges, a screenplay by Leon Uris, and music by the great Dimitri Tiomkin.
The sprawling , mostly fictional account of these two western legends begins with the first encounter of Earp and Holliday, and their early partnership to rid a town of bad guys. The story has great character building scenes, as we see the self destructive behavior of Doc Holliday as he deals with his conniving girl and his tuberculoses; Douglas puts in a great performance. We are also treated to a Hollywood romance between Fleming and Lancaster, which I feel never really was that convincing. Of course, the film builds up to the one of the most famous gunfights in western history, with Douglas and Lancaster taking on the entire Clanton gang. Its high adventure, Hollywood style, and great fun to watch again on DVD.
Picture and Sound
The Vistavision widescreen transfer holds up well for its age, with rich colors and sweeping landscapes. Focus is a bit soft in some scenes, especially on a big screen but colors are accurate and well preserved. Dirt and scratches are barely noticeable. Sound is mono and does suffer from occasional harshness and distortion.
Summary
A great western, with an interesting but fictional storyline, this is a must disc for Douglas fans. His performance is intense and enjoyable. The story moves quickly and is a great two hours of entertainment.

Featured Review
"That Little Monster" is a short, very low-budget horror film that, while occasionally interesting, does not equal the sum of its parts. There are some nice directorial touches, some flashy camerawork, and a semi-clever "Twilight Zonish" twist at the end, but it is also schizophrenic in tone, as if unsure whether to be a spoof, a thriller, an homage or an art film. And even with its scant 56 minute running time, it seems to go on longer than it really does.
