Still maintaining top credits in the opening sequence (which hasn't been changed in 4 years), Dr. House's supportive staff of the past three seasons has changed with Jennifer Morrison, Omar Epps, and Jesse Spencer carrying out other hospital duties and reduced to cameos in some episodes.  Hugh Laurie as House is just as sarcastic, quick witted and totally non PC with the candidates for his staff replacements,  with Sean Patrick Leonard as Wilson (best friend and enemy to House), and the hospital administrator, played with passion by Lisa Edelstein, who walks the fine line with House over just about every case. 

A major highlight of this season is how House weeds through 40 candidates and how House belittles all the candidates into doing things no Dr. should ever do. There are the young female blonde twins (need I say more), a man who knows more than a lot of candidates but doesn't have a medical degree, a janitor, a blonde rich kid named Amber who House refers to as "Cutthroat Bitch", a  beautiful government scientist, a bi-sexual (Olivia WIlde), an ex-plastic surgeon (Peter Jacobson) and a bright, just as quick witted Dr. (Kal Penn), who challenges House regularly without being intimidated by him. 

Among this subplot, which runs through most of the season until House finds his replacements, are the usual medical mysteries that House's audience is accustomed to viewing with a few variations in the formula.  One such variation has guest star Miro Sorvino alone at the South Pole and she must treat herself as House and staff watch via Internet video conference.  The other great episode is at the seasons' two part  finale, where House has been involved in a bus accident and hasto recall what led up to the crash and help a fellow Doctor.

Extras on the dvd set include a commentary on the two part finale, specials on the great writers of the show, the series special efects, new cast members and House's Soap addiction. 
The widescreen picture is great for hometheater and the discs are complemented with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.

While some will prefer the older cast and formulated medical dramas, this year's "House, M.D." takes some risks, which I believe help keep the series fresh and appealing. The cases are usually settled the same way, but the casting changes have made House's character more interesting and Sean Patrick Leonard's increased role as Wilson is a big plus for the series.  I think the four disc set is a bit overpriced (its priced the same as the other season sets but contains fewer episodes) I can still recommend its purchase because of the quality of the shows themselves.
