Having already seen bits of Jeffrey Ross on various Roast shows, I still figured this DVD would be enjoyable, since I am a fan of stand-up comedy. However, I was sorely mistaken.

From the very beginning of this scant, 58-minute DVD (which seems to go on forever), I was waiting for the moment when this guy would make me laugh. The entire show seemed like a very bad, very amateur warm-up, not the show itself. At no point did I find anything Ross said even remotely funny. The guy could seriously be a prime example of what unfunny actually is.

 Ross takes on airport security, the President, technology, sex, and Hannah Montana. However, his material is stale already, and with his bland delivery, the dated material is made even worse. The guy also seems incapable of establishing a connection with his audience. Even when he pulls members of the crowd onstage, Ross doesn't use them to his advantage, making witty remarks or anything. He tries to get laughs by ripping into their clothing, weight, and dyed hair. How original.

The only time I laughed was when a guy was pulled onstage to play piano to accompany Ross' "funny" poems. You know it's bad when your entire show is upstaged by a seemingly high guy playing piano.

None of Jeffrey Ross' material was fresh, overly offensive, or enjoyable. He comes across as someone brimming with pomposity, thinking he doesn't need to try to be funny because, in his world, he is.  He's not; he's really, really not. There are plenty of stand-up comedians who are actually funny - Robert Schimmel, Jeff Dunham, even some early Dane Cook. Jeffrey Ross, however, is possibly the most unfunny comedian I have ever come across.
