Review

How do you get people to buy a third edition of a fantastic movie that fans already own? Hold out all the really good extras until that edition. That's Peter Jackson's philosophy, which he explains in his introduction to all the extras loaded in this edition.
The movie itself is an incredible remake; magnificent special effects and acting from Naomi Watts, Andy Serkis (as Kong), and Adrien Brody. The special effects are dazzling, as Kong battles prehistoric creatures in one of the most amazing fight sequences ever, and this edition contains even more of the same, as 13 minutes have been added with new creatures. You feel exhausted after watching these scenes. The atmosphere of 1930's New York is also another great achievement of the film, thoroughly capturing the depression era with gritty realism.

Picture and Sound

This deluxe edition contains three 5.1 soundtracks in three languages to accompany a great, crystal clear digital picture. This edition is right on par with the other edition's clarity and surround sound sensations in the soundtrack. This is a real show case disc.

Extras

The big attraction of this edition has to be the extras included. For fans of the film, this is a must have collection of the best extras for the film, as explained by Peter Jackson. There is also no duplication on this edition-the stuff presented here is new; not found in the production diaries or the other editions. The major features include :

Of the ones listed, my favorites includes the 8 part documentary, the homage to Kong, and the 13 additional minutes (the film isn't long enough-Ha!). The documentary explores just about every aspect of the production; Peter Jackson's love affair with Kong since he first saw him on screen and yes, even more monsters on Skull Island.

Summary

So, is this new three disc sets worth it? This one is for fans who can't get enough of the big guy and this incredible film making triumph from Peter Jackson. Hey, it will make a great holiday gift now won't it?

"White Noise" is yet-another PG-13 horror opus, equally inspired by American knock-offs of Japanese films like "The Ring," and star-driven vehicles like "The Sixth Sense," "The Others" and "Dragonfly." As such, this one isn't too bad. It's certainly better than the undeservedly-profitable "The Grudge." Yet at the same time, this subgenre has pretty-much run its course, and "White Noise" ultimately suffers because of the now-cliched (and somewhat convoluted) presentation of its ideas.
