Review

Madam super-cop Yang Ching (Cynthia Khan) teams up with zany private investigator Charlie Chan (Anthony Wong Chau-Sang) in this bland Hong Kong action/comedy. While I admit a few cheers for the ridiculous fights scenes erupting from nowhere, the lukewarm comedy stretches had me daydreaming about the fast-forward button.
Fresh from icing a whole gang with her AK, Yang Ching visits her wealthy father's home and the trouble begins. After ice ages of grody old man make-out scenes, it's horrendously clear that Yang has her suspicions about her father's young hottie of a girlfriend, Wai (Kara Hui). And the more Yang and her chumpy (but nearly as badass) sidekick, Charlie spy on her, the more obvious it seems the Wai wants to marry pops for his money. After all, her ex-boyfriend is none other than super-thug, Kwong (Kwong Leung Wong). But, naturally, the truth is stranger

Picture and Sound

Maybe the copy I received had some problems. In any event, this disc is a rather rough and unprofessional job. Apart from infuriating white subtitles against a washed-out image, whole sections of dialog and "plot" will go unappreciated unless you speak Cantonese. Sometimes, the titles dipped beneath the frame entirely. The sound seemed just right for the film, however. Metal pipes, gunshots, and fists all had the perfect hyperbole for a Hong Kong action film. Cantonese and Mandarin language options only.

Extras

The only thing here is a lonely couple of surprisingly re-watchable trailers.

Summary

For a lighthearted action/comedy it's not so bad. Just don't expect too much. And don't be a stranger to the trusty fast-forward button.
