Dee Dee Dee? If you have ever watched Mind of Mencia then you would know what I am talking about, and understand that "Mencia's Mantra" is now officially used up. Carlos Mencia is a standup comic who uses his brash, often bigoted, views of real world racial problems to poke fun at racism. Mr. Mencia is known for his quick tongue and aggressive chants, and although this may be funny in small doses, one might start to wonder "why does he yell all the time?"
So there it is! Obviously I may have some reservations about Mr. Mencia, yet for anyone who would buy this DVD, you would have probably watched him before on Comedy Central's "Mind Of Mencia". If you think I hated the entire DVD you would be wrong. There were some funny sketches mixed in and some good cut scenes in the bonus menu, but if you are looking for another "Chappelle's Show," you may be disappointed.

Picture and Sound

Great quality but only in full screen format. The sound, rendered in 2.0 Dolby Digital, is serviceable.

Extras

A good look at the process of sketch comedy, including deleted scenes, bloopers, and some outtakes.

Summary

Mr. Mencia is obviously here to stay, which means there is enough of a following to keep his show in production, so expect more of seasons. As for this particular set, you may need to use the quality DVD as a quality coaster instead. Too much yelling, too many repeats, and not enough fun.

M. Richard Nash's Broadway play gets a fairly unimaginative & conventional big screen treatment, but is bolstered immensely by its charismatic leads, Burt Lancaster & Katherine Hepburn. Even though "The Rainmaker" doesn't feature their best performances (though Hepburn was nominated for an Oscar), the two manage to keep the movie entertaining enough to gloss over most of the film's obvious stage origins.
