Review

"Shaun The Sheep" is utterly delightful.
"Shaun The Sheep" is a wordless claymation/stop motion animation series (based off an idea by "Wallace and Gromit" creator Nick Park) that centers around a sheep farm.  The main character (obviously) is Shaun, a smart and curious sheep who likes to have fun and help fellow animals out.  In the eight shorts on this disc, Shaun and company play soccer, encounter bees, baby chicks, a goat, a mole, a camera and even try to obtain a stuffed animal for a baby sheep.

If you like "Wallace and Gromit" or "Chicken Run", there is absolutely no reason why you wouldn't enjoy this cute and charming claymation series.  In an era in which cartoons are full of loud noises and obnoxious screaming characters, it is refreshing to see a series that has no dialog whatsoever.  All the characters and plots instead rely on motions and emotions to tell the story and it simply works like a charm.  It's amazing how the writers can say so much without ever having the characters say one word.  I wish more animated shows were like this.

Picture and Sound

The only extras are Lionsgate trailers, two video game previews and a 3 minute featurette titled "Meet The ANimals" which has a group of children touring the Shaun claymation sets and talking about the characters.

Extras

The fullscreen picture is a little fuzzy in spots, but overall the animation is clean looking. The Dolby Digital 2.0 is solid, but there is relatively little audio here aside from music and some sound f/x.

A Guy Thing

Category: DVD Reviews
"A Guy Thing" is yet another in a long line of romantic comedies in which the protagonist, about to be married, falls in love with someone else, then is torn between doing what's expected of him and following his heart. It isn't the worst of the genre; in fact, it's quite funny at times. Just don't expect any surprises or deviations from the formula.
