“Wall-E” is one of the best films of 2008.
“Wall-E” is the story of a robot whose job is to compact trash on Planet Earth. Wall-E, however, is all alone with the exception of a bug. All of Earth’s inhabitants fled the polluted, uninhabitable planet and hopped aboard luxury starliners where generations of humans have spent their lives for 700 years. One day, a starship lands on Earth with a robot named EVE. EVE’S job is to search for any plant life. Immediately upon laying eyes on her, Wall-E falls in love with EVE. Unfortunately for Wall-E, EVE finds a plant and must travel back to the starliner. Not wanting to be without her, Wall-E jumps aboard the starship and travels to the starliner. It is on the starliner that Wall-E gets into all sorts of misadventures, while also managing to change the lives of the consumerism, overweight humans. Will the humans go back to Erath now that it can sustain plant life? “Wall-E” has everything you could possibly want from a movie. It has a touching and heartwarming love story at the center. It has wonderful robotic characters who seem more human than most of the characters found in disposable blockbusters. It also has a poignant and ballsy science fiction story about the dangers of pollution, trash build up, and consumerism. I never thought I would see an animated film that would touch upon such a subject and for that I applaud writers Andrew Stanton and Pete Docter. Summary: I could go on showering the film with praises, but I won’t. “Wall-E” is essential to any film lover’s collection.
Picture and Sound
The widescreen picture is crystal clear for a DVD release. The smoggy Earth, the colorful starliner, the robots all look picture perfect.
You can’t ask for a better Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track. Everything from the robotic noises to the sound F/X are perfect.

This film, touted as "in the classic Hitchcock tradition" are hard to fill and while it is a suspenseful thriller, it can be compared to Hitchcock's The Man Who Knew Too Much, as it involves a family desperately trying to get their kidnapped child back. Starring Michael Douglas, Oliver Platt, Famke Janssen, Jennifer Esposito, Brittany Murphy and Sean Bean, the thriller is gripping from the opening flashback.
Movie Quotes
Ilsa, I'm no good at being noble, but it doesn't take much to see that the problems of three little people don't amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world. Humphrey Bogart Casablanca
