The logline: Blood-thirsty vampires feed upon the remaining citizens of a tiny Alaskan town that is undergoing 30 days of night. Will anyone be able to survive?

As a fan of the Steve Niles graphic novel “30 Days Of Night,” I have to say that I was looking forward to this film. I really felt the material was perfect for a dark, scary, claustrophobic horror film. Sadly, the film is a colossal failure.

The main issue I had with ’30 Days’ was David Slade’s lackluster direction. He may know how to create stunning images, but his direction with actors feels lifeless as if it were a chore for him. His direction is a prime example of style over substance.

Aside from the look of the film, the only other compliment I can give the film is that I dug the vampires. It’s refreshing to see a different take on the famous monsters. Unlike many vampire-centric films, these vamps actually appear menacing, deadly, and downright creepy.
