Review
Fairly early on in "Balls Of Fury," the main character (Randy) gets kicked in the privates. To me, this very scene best describes the viewing experience of the film (meaning that you're in for a world of hurt).
The story begins with a child tennis star named Randy Daytona choking in a tournament. Cut to several years later where Randy, who barely makes a living in a cheap Reno talent act, is approached by an FBI agent to help take down the notorious underground ping pong organizer Feng, whom is also coincidentally responsible for Randy's father's death. Now, Randy must practice and train so that he can not only become a ping pong star once again, but stop Feng from killing more people. "Balls Of Fury" is the lowest form of comedy. As you can judge by the title, the film mostly consists of testicle jokes. On top of that, we are assaulted by goofy ping pong player characters, more painfully unfunny "Reno 911" cast members than you can shake a stick at, tired jokes about man courtesans, boggle, and pandas, and George Lopez. It doesn't get much worse. I'm sure most of you are thinking to yourselves, "What about Christopher Walken?" Even in the worst of films ("Joe Dirt" for instance), Walken can turn the lamest of lines into comedic gold. Sadly, however, not even Christopher Walken made me crack a smile. In fact, it's flat out embarrassing to see him here. The producers must have thrown a huge wad of cash at him, because that's the only logical reason why he would lower himself to appear in this trash heap.
Picture and Sound
I don't have any problems with the 1.85:1 widescreen picture quality, but it's nothing to rave about. Sure it's clear looking, but it never wowed me. The English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and English Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio tracks are clean, but the speakers never really kick in much like recent comedy releases on HD-DVD like "Old School" and "Anchorman".
Extras
* Web enabled featurettes on the Bamboo Fight and Bridge Stunt. * 7 painful deleted scenes. * An anti-climactic alternate ending. * "Under The Balls: The Life Of A Ball Wrangler" is a mockumentary on Irina, the attractive ping pong ball wrangler. * "Balls Out: The Making Of Balls Of Fury" (14 mins.) contains interviews with the cast and crew, the inspirations for the "script," etc.
Summary
"Balls Of Fury" easily ranks as one of the worst films of 2007. Skip this one.

This is one HD lovers have been waiting for and Fox does not disappoint with this Blu-Ray transfer. This is reference quality material. If you have the double disc standard dvd, you will not get the same extras as Fox put all their efforts into the film's presentation and not the extras-What else is new? Fox still needs to deliver on extras, especially if they are charging $40.00 for a disc. There are extras, but a lot more on the special edition standard dvd.
