"The Bourne Supremacy" picks up where the first film left off. Jason Bourne and Marie are still together and are in hiding in India. However, their quiet time together doesn't last long as an assassin catches up with the two and manages to kill Marie. As if matters couldn't get any worse for Bourne, he is framed from a crime he didn't commit. With no other choice, Bourne must grudgingly return to his old ways and find out why he is being set-up for murder While "The Bourne Supremacy" contains a riveting car chase in India and one of the best hand-to-hand combat fights ever filmed, this second installment is sorely lacking in the story department. True, the first 20 minutes are rather eventful, but the majority of this sequel more or less stalls the over arching story. As a result, Bourne has little to do other than run around while being plagued with memory issues.
To be honest, you're better off just skipping this and watching "The Bourne Ultimatum" as that film is not only the best of the trilogy, but it also thankfully fills viewers in on what happened in the first two films. The 2.35:1 widescreen print is certainly superior to its DVD counterpart, but I noticed a fair amount of grain and overly dark scenes. The Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio track is decent, but nowhere near as electrifying as the track on "The Bourne Ultimatum." Extras: * 10 minutes of deleted scenes. * "On The Move With Jason Bourne"- A 4 1/2 minute look at the locations the crew shot at. * A quiet commentary by Paul Greengrass. He does provide some insightful analysis and seems very fortunate to be a part of the franchise. * "Matching Identities: Casting"- 5 minutes. * "The Bourne Diagnosis" (5 1/2 mins.) describes the sequel. * "Things That Go Boom" (4 mins.) is a featurette on blowing up a house. * "Bourne To Be Wild" is a 4 minute featurette on fight training. * "Crash Cam: Racing Through The Streets Of Moscow" (6 mins.) * "Keeping It Real"- A 4 1/2 minute look at the style that Greengrass brings to the series. * "The Go-Mobile Revs Up The Action" (6 1/2 mins.) looks at the camera rig set up on the cars. * "Anatomy Of A Scene: The Explosive Bridge Chase Scene"- Nearly 4 minutes. * "Scoring With John Powell" (4:19) is obviously about the music score. * Total Experience is an HD DVD exclusive extra which features picture in picture interviews and set footage. * My favorite extra on the disc is titled "The Bourne Mastermind" which focuses on Bourne creator author Robert Ludlum.

A Bridge Too Far Blu-Ray

Category: HD Reviews

Of all the films I've watched on Blu-Ray, this has got to take the prize for NOT being a reference disc.  This 3 hour, all star packed war film has enough problems and this Blu-Ray release doesn't make it any better .  As I watched the first terminally long hour of dialog ridden set up, I kept wondering when the high defintion scenes would finally arrive.  Many of the film's scenes are fog shrouded due to the weather or camera style, which has always irritated me when it's used for an entire picture.  So, don't pick up this film expecting a great show off disc for your system.  If you own the standard dvd of the film, you won't see any difference.  Sound is a bit better as this disc offers a DTS HD MA soundtrack.
