Review
A lot of films based on television shows flop but Get Smart is an exception; its really funny and Steve Carell is a great Maxwell Smart. Anne Hathaway also continues to impress us as an actress as agent 99. Alan Arkin is The Chief, and Dwayne Johnson is also on board as agent 23. The film is an effective update of the television series in all respects. There are also many references to the old show, from classic lines to the use of some of the old spy props from the show. On occasion, if you look close, you'll also see flashes of old villians on the screen, including Michael Dunn, the very first villain on the pilot for the television show.
Carell is Smart, who is trying to become a field agent after 8 attempts but is stuck inside CONTROL's main headquarters as an analyst. He literally runs into 99 , who is jogging , after learning he will not be promoted but he soon teams with her when CONTROL's headquarters is destroyed by KAOS agents. Smart and 99 are sent to Russia to discover and dismantle a KAOS center that has acquired nuclear weapons. Terrance Stamp plays the major KAOS agent. There are many highlights of comedy in the film; Carell trying to free himself from plastic handcuffs in a plane's bathroom, a dance routine you wouldn't believe, a skydiving rescue, and dodging laser beams with a rat down his pants. Hathaway was a good choice for 99, she brings a new dimension to the role. WHile Barbara Feldon was totally in love with Don Adams in the series, this 99 is a feisty, liberated woman, who is an experienced agent and loaths Max at the beginning of the film. Their pairing and subsequent squabbles are also most effective in the film. The 1080p picture is a good as can be on Blu; colors are bright, well balanced and pop;images in general are very sharp. Black levels are excellent. Sound is in Dolby digital 5.1, no lossless; another strange decision by Warner. Just about every studio label is using some sort of lossless audio format but Warner lately hasn't even used Dolby True HD. Extras include a Get Smart Takes, which includes 45 minutes of alternate jokes , a presentation of old Get Smart lines and gags that ar eincorporated into this film, behind teh scenes training of Carell and Hathaway, a comedic language demonstration by Carell, a gag reel, and on set in Moscow feature. This three disc set includes a dvd game and also a digital copy for ipod. The movie version of "Get Smart" is a winner and Carell/Hathaway are a great new comedy team. The film leaves room for a sequel and one made for dvd spinoff has already been produce. Picture quality on this Blu is outstanding but sound could be improved. Extras are adequate and entertaining and with two discs of extra stuff, this package is well worth the cash. A funny film from start to finish.

Aside from a few scares, “The Amityville Horror” is a poorly constructed haunted house tale.
