Fox has just released this powerful Denzel Washington film, directed by Tony Scott and co-starring my favorite child actress, Dakota Fanning. The movie is great and I can highly recommend it as a fantastic action film with beautiful cinematography and Tony Scott's remarkable ability to capture the atmosphere of Mexico City. The High Definition picture is sharp and the earthy tones of greens and browns really come through in this Blu-Ray release. Sound is equally superior.
This is not a new title release, as it has been released on DVD twice, once as a bare bones dvd and once as a special edition. I do have a problem with Fox releasing this film without any extras, especially since the dvd special edition includes a lot. Are we going to be subjected to another edition later on? I hope this is not going to be a case of studios double dipping the consumer, as they have with standard dvd.
Advice for Fox: On a 50 GB disc, I'm sure you have room for the extras that fit on two dvds. Let's go back and include the extras, maybe with picture in picture commentary from Denzel, Dakota and Tony Scott and re-release this great film, offering a trade in for consumers who originally purchased this edition. It's the right thing to do.
