To call “Meet The Spartans” a movie is blasphemy.

In the tradition of “Date Movie” and “Epic Movie,” “Meet The Spartans” basically spoofs a variety of celebs, shows and films for no apparent reason. Among those lampooned are “300,” “Ghost Rider,” “American Idol,” “Rocky Balboa,” “Spider-Man 3,” Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and many more.

Let me get this out of the way, “Meet The Spartans” is not a movie, but rather a series of random popular culture references, blatant product placements, and moments of brain dead humor. Not once do screenwriters  Jason Freidberg and Aaron Seltzer attempt to create any original or funny sight gags or jokes. Everything is either an obvious cheap shot or a lame gag revolving around bodily functions and testicles. If you need proof of how painful the comedy is, try watching the endless pit of death or dance off scenes.

Overall: ‘Spartans’ is everything wrong with cinema rolled up into one “movie” and it should be avoided at all costs.
