This third "Shrek" film looks and sounds great and contains a lot of HD exclusives. While this third installment suffers a bit from grossology (it was covered pretty thoroughly in the first two films and the jokes are getting old). The plot involves Shrek seeking the heir to Kingdom Far, Far Away after King Harold (John Cleese) passes away in a hilarious death scene. Shrek also gets a family when Fiona tells Shrek she's pregnant. While Shrek is away seeking Arthur, However, there are a lot of great laughs, including a Donkey/Puss In Boots body switch, a bevy of militant beauties including Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty attacking to" Immigrant Song" and "Barracuda". Additions to the returning cast include Justin Timberlake as Arthur (the would be heir to the throne of Far, Far Away and henchman Ian MacShane as Captain Hook, Eric Idle as Merlin and John Krasinkski as Lancelot. Characters from the other Shrek films also get more screen time, including a great Pinnochio speech where he tries to tell the truth through lawyerspeak, and a number of famous villians, such as the Evil Queen from Snow White, the Trees from The Wizard of Oz, and Rumplestilskin.
The 1080p picture is beautiful, as Blu-Ray really brings out the best in computer graphics animation. The picture brings Shrek close to a 3-D experience. The Dolby True HD soundtrack contains a great number of new songs for the film, including Paul McCartney. Extras are plentiful and are mostly in HD-A picture in picture interactive storyboards feature, a customizable character menus, and Shrek Trivia Track. The other extras from the dvd are also included in HD; "Learn The Donkey Dance", The Tech of Shrek, Shrek's Guide to Parenthood are among the highlights. In summary, Paramount is slowly coming around in HD features and hopefully the two other SHrek films , when released, will also include new and exclusive extras. "Shrek The Third" is stunning visually and sonically, and contains enough extras to upgrade to Blu-Ray. A great fun package on Blu.

“Heroes,” which revolves around super powered humans all across the globe, was a massive hit in its first season. People couldn’t seem to get enough of the show and the characters (especially Hiro and Claire). However, when season two rolled around, there was a huge backlash against some new characters and the story arcs involving a virus. After viewing the second season, I can’t say I fully understand the criticisms. Granted, the second season does have its flaws. I personally could have done without Maya and Alejandro, the backpack rescue mission in the finale, anything involving Nikki, and Peter’s Ireland adventure. Even with those complaints, there is still much to admire in this season. I found that several of the new characters really spiced up the show, especially Elle and West. Elle, played by the superb actress Kristen Bell of “Veronica Mars” fame, is a nice complex character who can be both good and bad. West (Nicholas D’Agosto) is a kind hearted “good” guy character who makes for a great love interest for Claire. Among the other aspects of the season I enjoyed were Hiro’s adventures in Feudal Japan, learning about the character’s parents past, as well as seeing how Sylar can still be evil even without his powers. I can’t wait to see Sylar (and other villains) take center stage in season three which is being dubbed “Villains.” Overall, I would recommend checking out the second season of “Heroes.” Sure, it’s not perfect, but neither was season one. With intriguing new characters, action-packed episodes like “Four Months Ago,” and plenty of plot twists, there’s enough here to satisfy fans of the series. Nick Lyons
