The plot: The clumsy Ham 3, son of the famous astronaut chimp Ham 1, is sent on a mission to a far away planet to investigate the disappearance of an armed probe. Upon arriving on the planet, Ham 3 and his fellow ape crew find that an evil alien named Zarrtog has enslaved the population with the probe. Can Ham 3 and company save the day? Does Patrick Warburton voice yet another animated character?

Let’s be honest, the title says it all here. This is a movie about chimps in space. As you can no doubt guess, the movie is almost entirely filled with more space and monkey jokes than you care to hear. Sure, there are also references to “Beverly Hills Cop” and “Macarena,” but those jokes are outdated and tired to say the least.

As for the script, it is as clumsy and lazy as the obnoxious main character Ham 3. It is so formulaic and safe that you wonder why it was even funded to begin with. Forget about this tripe and buy (or rent) “Wall-E” instead. That is the only recent animated film you really need to see.
