The logline: Evil alien Ba’al drastically changes the timeline and plans to conquer Earth and it’s up to the SG-1 team to save the Earth and restore the timeline.

I should state up front that even though I am a huge Sc-Fi, I could never get into “Stargate.” To me, it is a silly franchise with plots/story arcs that WISH they were like “Star Trek” and monotone/lifeless interchangeable characters who all speak the same. With that said, I went into “Continuum” with an open mind, but alas the film confirms my previous opinion that “Stargate” is nothing to ride home about. Even though “Continuum” may be billed as a “movie,” this feels very much like a lousy, uninvolving, predictable two-part episode only with a bigger budget. In fact, the only positive aspect of this movie is the footage from the arctic and the ship F/X. At least they put the budget to some good use.

As for the cast, no one really shines here. Richard Dean Anderson is probably the only one who seems to be enjoying himself here, but he’s not in it all that much. “Farscape” stars Ben Browder and Claudia Black look bored here and who could blame them? I would be upset too if I was on a beloved show that was cancelled for no reason and then got dumped onto another show just to get some of the “Farscape” audience to watch.  

In conclusion: I know “Stargate” has a large devoted fanbase, but I honestly don’t see the appeal of the series. If you’re a fan of the franchise, you will no doubt buy this film in a heartbeat. As for everyone else, I cannot recommend checking out “Continuum” as it is a dull adventure that is not likely to win any new fans.
