This is an excellent concert featuring some of the most prominant guitar players in the business al playing their Fender Startocasters in a star studded concert. This new Blu-Ray disc from Eagle Rock will please a variety of classic rock fans everywhere as the stars perform some of their best work to a packed audience.
The performers are mostly well known: Here is a breakdown of the artists who perform: The Crickets-Buddy Holly's original backup band, still performing today. Amy Winehouse-before the big hair Hank Marvin-The Shadows original guitar player and guitar god from England Gary Moore-Blues guitarist that will blow you away with his solos Joe Walsh-Eagles and Solo artist Mike Rutherford and Paul Carrack-Mike and The Mechanics and Genesis Theresa Andersson-Swedish born country guitar and fiddle player Brian May and Paul Rodgers-Queen revised Ron Wood-Rolling Stones and Faces David Gilmour-Pink Floyd and solo artist Also featured are Albert Lee, Jamie Cullum and Phil Manzanera. The huge, two hour plus concert features some excellent performances from all the artists and the editing is done right for full enjoyment of the music and the guitar work. The 1080i picture is beautiful ; sharp and clear with little lighting washout from stage lights. Intricate details are picked up in close ups on the Blu-Ray disc; some of these guitars have been used for a long time and show the wear. Extras include some rehearsal footage and also inteviews with Amy Winehouse and David Gilmour. This is a great disc for guitar lovers and an excellent concert from start to finish. Picture, sound and concert performances make this a great Blu-Ray purchase. Available December 9, 2008.

"Elizabeth" chronicles the life of Elizabeth 1 as she rises to the challenge of becoming the Queen Of England. Throughout the film, we see the Queen trying to find a husband, enemies (the Duke of Norfolk and others) trying to have her killed, religious conflicts, and so on. 10 years after the film was released, "Elizabeth" doesn't hold up quite as well as it did when I first saw it. Yes, the costumes, production values, and the star studded cast are worthy of praise, but the script is uneven at best. Had writer Michael Hirst cleaned up the painfully slow first half, added more characterization, and not strayed from historical facts this could have been a stronger film. As I mentioned earlier, the star studded cast is to die for. The cast listing reads like an awards ceremony lineup. Cate Blanchett, Geoffrey Rush, Christopher Eccleston, Joseph Fiennes, Daniel Craig, John Gielgud, and Richard Attenborough. I don't have to say that "Elizabeth" is worth seeing for the cast alone. Both the 1.85:1 widescreen picture quality and the Dolby TrueHD 5.1/Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 audio tracks are solid, but aren't the most impressive HD DVD offerings. The colors seemed a bit too pale for my tastes, and the dialogue sounded a little low. Extras: * Sneak peek of "Elizabeth: The Golden Age." * Theatrical trailer * A 5 minute 48 second behind-the-scenes featurette * "The Making Of Elizabeth" (24:53) contains interviews with the cast and crew, clips from the movie, chats about the themes, story, and locations, etc. * An honest and intelligent commentary track by director Shekhar Kapur in which he talks about why he took on the project, scenes he didn't like, character motives, and more.
