The story: Max Walker is an officer whose job is to control illegal time travel. When Max learns that Senator McComb, who happens to be running for president, is using time travel, he tries to stop him. Why is McComb using time travel? Did McComb affect Max's life somehow? Tune in and find out. Having seen several Jean-Claude Van Damme films, I can honestly say that "Timecop" is a cut above most of his work. In addition to having some enjoyable beatdowns on the mullet sporting henchmen, there are some fun sci-fi moments here such as the trips to the civil war and the depression era, Van Damme emerging into the past in front of a truck, Van Damme meeting himself in the past, etc. Of course, "Timecop" could have been a better film under a more capable director and screenwriter. My main problem with the flick is that it never delivers what it promises. If you have a story about time travel, show Van Damme going to various time periods! Is that so much to ask? In addition, the movie could have starred a better actor. Sorry to say, but Van Damme's acting is wooden. Don't believe me? Observe his line deliveries and his utter lack of chemistry with any cast member. The widescreen picture quality is solid overall. The color could have been sharper and I did spot a few dirt specs, but the print looks better than anyone could have imagined. The English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track is equally impressive. No extras.
