Review

Sam Peckinpah's western classic, which redefined the genre, is presented in a pristine transfer on Blu-Ray. This is a definite show off disc on what the high definition format can achieve on older, catalog titles. Besides the excellent picture and sound quality, the disc includes a lengthy documentary on Peckinpah's career and his impact on film, an excerpt from "A Simple Adventure Story: Sam Peckinpah, Mexico, and the Wild Bunch, and commentary by Peckinpah biographers Nick Redman, Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons, and David Weddle.

Now let's get a few more classics on high definition disc!

When I received the "Cat People" HD DVD, I was surprised that I had never got around to seeing it (especially since I admire Paul Schrader's work). I think the reason I was hesitant to see it was because it was a remake. It turns out, I was better off avoiding "Cat People" as it is indeed another inferior, unnecessary remake.
