The scope and breadth of Eric Clapton?s work transcends all timelines. He has reached a status that few have during the course of an enduring career. Eric Clapton & Friends Live 1986 DVD briefly touches upon his recorded works. The song selection however is good, covering his Cream, Derek & The Dominoes and solo career adequately, although there are not enough meat and potatoes to do this man?s career justice. It is like getting an appetizer and the waiter never comes back with the full course meal. I must add that the bonus that makes it all worthwhile besides watching Clapton play was viewing the animated Phil Collins on the drum kit. As much as I did enjoy this DVD, I felt disappointed that it was so short. Completely devoid of bonus material such as interviews with Eric and people he has worked with over the years, makes this disc short and sweet entertainment. Nevertheless, it is Clapton and all the songs are great, so the redeeming qualities are plentiful for the blues-rock lovers to enjoy. If this were anyone else, I would not recommend this DVD.
