Review

10 years between albums is a long time, almost long enough for people to forget you?well, not Living Colour. Who could forget the incredible Vivid album? It is one of my all time favorites and ?Cult of Personality? still gives me chills and makes my heart pound just like the first time I heard it. Enter 2003 and a new offering titled Collide?scope in CD format is released from Sanctuary Records then a few months later resurfacing in stunning DVD-A format from Silverline/5.1. It truly is an audiophile?s dreamland to live in these times. This album sounded good in the CD format, now it is even better with more features for the multi-media fanatics in DVD-A. The most distinctive link to the Living Colour sound is the vocals of Corey Glover accompanied by the scorching guitar licks of Vernon Reid. This band did as much for African American?s in rock music as George Clinton did; it just happened in a different decade and exploded inside of an entirely different genre with an audience eagerly embracing them right from the start. Now a decade later an entirely new generation of listeners can do the same, if they are hip enough. Collide?scope is markedly different from any other album to date for this band. The recording is superb both musically and technically, complete with their trademark cynicism and anger and the guitar flourishes are extraordinary as usual. How many bands can take an AC/DC classic like ?Back in Black? and make it their own? They sing and play the tune as if they own it, live it must be so killer. ?Operation Mind Control? is an anthem for all of us aware that Big Brother is watching and influencing our every thought. Once again, Living Colour walks on ?Sacred Ground? with a classic rock-metal album. An added bonus on the DVD-A is the video of ?Song Without Sin,? a good glimpse of what the band looks like these days onstage. They could take another 10 years off and it would not matter, I will be waiting patiently to listen to the next release whenever it comes out. ?"Keith "MuzikMan" Hannaleck December 23, 2003

Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus-Best Of Both Worlds Concert 3D Film-Extended Version

Category: Music Reviews

I was really looking forward to see what Disney, who produces technically superior DVDs could do with the 3 D format, since this film was such a hit in theaters.  I have to admit the DVD 3D experience was a let down.  While I didn't expect Disney to reinvent 3D, I was hoping for a tighter picture quality with the blue-red glasses.  Unfortunately, as I write this review, my eyes are still a bit blurry and my head aches.  Using the older red-blue glasses just doesn't cut it on DVD. The most effective use I've seen so far with this older technology was on a Medium episode where you only wore the glasses for brief periods of time in flashback sequences.  Luckily, Disney includes a 2 D version of the concert on a separate disc.

finally won out over it.
