Review

Muddy Waters is captured faithfully here on this terrific disc from Shanachie Home Video. Featuring performances from Rockpalast, Musikladen, and History of Soul, the video is a compilation of some of Muddy Waters best electric blues.
The disc features a great portrait of Muddy on the cover with his high pompadour, which he later turned into an afro. The musical numbers on the disc include: Blow, Wind, Blow-1974 Musikladen Country Boy-1978-Rockpalast Got My Mojo Working-1968-History of Soul Baby Please Don't Go-1978-Rockpalast Honey Bee-1974 Musikladen They Call Me Muddy Waters-1978-Rockpalast Walking Through The Park-1978-Rockpalast Long Distance Call-1968-History Of Soul Mannish Boy-1978-Rockpalast Caldonia-1978-Rockpalast Everything Gonna Be All Right-1978-Rockpalast 12th Of April (Soon Forgotten)-1978-Rockpalast Some of the side men joining Muddy on these renditions include Otis Spann and Pinetop Perkins on keyboards, Carey Bell, Paul Oscher, and Jerry Portnoy on blues harp, Pee Wee Madison, Bob Margolin, and Luther Johnson on guitar. All the session men are very comfortable and are allowed to perform their best on stage with Muddy.

This disc captures Muddy Waters at his best, in various stages of his career. His patented slide guitar and deep, soulful singing is in top form in these well captured blues classics. This DVD is a must for Muddy Waters and all electric blues fans.

Legendary Albums Live - Dreamboat Annie

Category: Music Reviews
With the musical landscape of our iPod age concentrating mostly on hot single tracks, the old guard of rock 'n' roll are refusing to let the concept of the album die.

The UK-based promotions company, All Tomorrow's Parties, has been hosting a continuing series of concerts under the heading "Don't Look Back", where a band/artist is invited to perform their most beloved full-length in its entirety. The Zombies, the '60s pop group that is being cited as a key influence on current acts such as the Shins and Belle and Sebastian, announced earlier this year that the original line up of the band would be reforming for a one-off gig in which they will recreate their magnum opus Odessey and Oracle.
