Review
Peter Frampton has shorn his curly locks which made him famous back in 1976 when he produced the best selling live album ever with "Frampton Comes Alive". Frampton's reemergence from a self imposed hiatus is refreshing to watch and he seems to be enjoying himself in the excellent music DVD from Image Entertainment.
A veteran rocker, Frampton started his work with Steve Marriot of the original Small Faces(Ichycoo Park) and Humble Pie. Frampton then moved on to produce a lot of solo work which caught fire with the release of "Frampton Comes Alive". How do you top that? Well, in Frampton's case, you don't. He has produced a lot of albums since that monster release but nothing has come close in popularity as that album. On this DVD, the graying, short haired, bespeckled Frampton returns to the stage in Detroit at Pine Knob amphitheater, a "friendly audience" for this DVD. It is high energy as Frampton shows he hasn't lost any form in the time he has been away from performing. Backed up by his band mates of twenty years, Bob Mayo and John Regen (his drummer, Chad Cromwell, is the newcomer at a couple of years) Frampton charms the audience with his hits and some new songs. When Frampton introduces the new numbers, he even comments on how the audience will react-"Oh, a new number". He makes a deal with the audience that if they listen to the new songs, he will deliver during the old numbers, which he does. The entire song lineup is as follows: Baby(Somethin's Happenin') Lying Lines On My Face Show Me The Way -with voice box All I Wanna Be (Is By Your Side)-audience participation If You Say Goodbye-a new one Oh For Another Day-another new one Penny For Your Thoughts-a great instrumental showing his guitar work (I'll Give You) Money Nassau Baby I Love Your Way Can't Take That Away Do You Feel Like We Do-A highlight with Frampton teasing the audience before he starts in with the voice box Off The Hook You Had To Be There I Don't Need No Doctor-a tribute to Humble Pie and Steve Marriot Frampton is back and this DVD is a great example why.
Summary
This guy is a happy, energetic, charming fellow, who is ready to get back into the music scene big time. Of course, music has changed a bit since 1976, so whether he will be successful or not is still yet to be seen but he does have a fan base of millions to rely on. If people get a look at this DVD, he can't lose. All fans of Peter-buy this disc, you won't be disappointed.

Judas Priest never actually went away. They simply floundered after lead vocalist Rob Halford quit to spend the next decade jumping from one failed experimental musical project to the next. The problem, with all due respect to guitarists K.K. Downing & Glenn Tipton, is that Halford IS Judas Priest, the long-reigning poster-boy for metal's image & attitude, embodying everything good, bad & cliched about the genre (of course, since he invented many of those cliches, we must afford him a considerable amount of respect). Then again, it can be argued Halford's surprising departure would ultimately save this band from 80's obscurity. If he had remained in the band, t's likely Priest would have died the same slow agonizing death as countless other metal bands in the wake of Nirvana. Though the remaining members did their best to carry on (becoming somewhat of a joke by hiring a singer from a Priest tribute band), I think most die-hard metal fans knew they were Judas Priest in-name-only, but held onto the hope that Halford would get whatever bug was up his ass out of his system and return the band to its former glory. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder, and when Halford did indeed return to the band after 12 years (and releasing a new album, "Angel of Retribution"), it was one of the most welcome comebacks in recent years. Priest's brand of classic brand of heavy metal wasn't suddenly in vogue again, but it was wonderful to see these guys act as though the 90s never happened, and go back to doing what they do better than just about everybody. That, more than anything, guaranteed a successful album & tour, the latter of which is wonderfully captured in this terrific two-hour concert performance at the Budokan in Tokyo.
