Review

"Alex Thomas: I Got Next" is a decent stand-up comedy special.

This stand-up comedy special from Birmingham, Alabama sees comedian Alex Thomas (who has appeared on “The Jamie Foxx Show” and films like “Just Married”) cracking jokes about such topics as Jim Jones, a nasty strip club, sports, Kool-Aid, moronic rap lyrics, wannabe rappers, curse words, etc. While his energy and enthusiasm is undeniable, Thomas seems to try a little too hard to get the crowd into his gig and he frequently laughs nervously at his own material. Still, he is a solid joke teller and can create some amusing impressions (I got a good laugh from his Lil’ John bit). With so many stale movie star comedians out there, I firmly believe he deserves to become a mainstream star as he has actual talent. I wish him well in his journey.

The only extra is a 4 minute ad for the “Undisputed Comedy DVD Series.”

Excellent set design, realistic effects and an intriguing plot make this film worth a view. Stars Joaquim De Almeida ( 24 and Clear And Present Danger)) and Vincent Gallo the acting is good even if some of the dubbing suffers in close-ups.
