"Funny, We Shrunk The Adults" is a watchable set of three "Alvin And The Chipmunks" movie parodies.
This disc of animated cartoons from the 1990 “Alvin And The Chipmunks” series contains three movie parody episodes titled “Funny, We Shrunk The Adults,” “Back To Our Future,” and “Bigger.” “Funny” (an obvious homage to “Honey, I Shrunk The Kids”) revolves around Simon’s “shrink machine” which accidentally miniaturizes Dave and Ms. Miller. “Back To Our Future” is a clever spoof of “Back To The Future” in which the 1990 versions of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore travel back in time to 1957 to visit their older animated selves to persuade them to continue to pursue a career in music. “Bigger” (a parody of the Tom Hanks gem “Big”) is a story about Alvin magically becoming an adult only to realize he wants to be a child again. All three episodes also contain moments in which the trio burst into songs like “Back In Time” and “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll.” The three cartoons are a mixed bag. “Funny, We Shrunk The Adults” is the weakest of the bunch as Alvin, Simon, and Theodore act like complete careless morons. In one scene, Alvin lets a circus into the house while Dave and Mrs. Miller are still tiny. Brilliant! “Bigger” has a SLOW pacing and contains some ear piercing songs such as “I Wanna Be Big,” but the story offers a heartfelt message about growing pains and staying true to your self. “Back To Our Future” is the highlight of the bunch as it was a blast to see the two sets of Alvin, Theodore, and Simon interacting with each other and even having a singing duel. Of course, instead of watching these three episodes, you really are better off watching the films they parody as they are all cinematic classics. No extras have been included. The disc is presented in fullscreen with a Dolby Digital Stereo track.

The story: After being outcast by his people, a strong Indian warrior is asked to return home to help fight off a rival clan led by the evil Chichak. Turok refuses, and as a result, most of his people are slaughtered. Wanting revenge, he chases after Chichak and winds up in a strange land where dinosaurs and cavemen roam. Will Turok get his revenge? Will he find something in this new world that will change his life forever? "Turok," which is based on a comic series, is very much an adult direct-to-dvd animated film. Viewers can expect to see lots of violence and gushing blood in virtually every shot, which is partly the problem. Instead of crafting a stronger story with fully developed characters, and adding more detail to the landscapes and dino designs, all of the creative team's attention seems to be focused on the blood. I realize this film was designed for a certain audience, but even gore hounds will find the endless violence dull after awhile. Perhaps I expected more from "Turok" as I grew up playing the fun-filled video games. Complaints aside, "Turok" is worth a gander for fans of the character and for those wanting to see animated dino action that does not involve the characters from "Land Before Time." As with most animated films, the widescreen picture quality looks sharp. The Dolby Digital Stereo track, however, could use some improvements. The music needed to be toned down a little. I wanted to hear the background noises and shaker speaking dino roars! Extras: * A 22 minute featurette titled "Total Turok" which looks at the history of the Turok comics and how the writers, producers, and directors adapted the material to film. * A commentary track by Evan Bailey, Tad Stones, Dan Riba, Curt Geda, and Frank Squillace. The group analyze the film and chat about the animation and characters.
