The fact that this show's forth season is now anthologized on DVD is proof-positive that people will watch anything, making celebrities out of skanks who are famous simply for being spoiled and rich. You can't blame Nicole Richie or Paris Hilton; they're just two dumb tarts lucky enough to spawn from the loins of greater individuals...it's all OUR fault for extending their allotted 15 minutes of fame into half-hour territory. Season 4 of this utterly stupid and overly-manipulating 'reality series' (which, after season one, almost single-handedly rendered the term an oxymoron) provides more of the same type of obviously-staged spontaneity and 'funny' reactions from Richie & Hilton, this time placing these dolts into the roles of housewives. By virtue of its blatant phoniness, "The Simple Life" doesn't even provide the living-train-wreck kicks of stuff like VH1's "Being Bonuduce". The only reason this disc doesn't rate an 'F' is simply because it's no longer the worst series on TV ("Flavor of Love" earns that dubious title). From Fox
