The plot: Cory is an accident prone teen that happens to live at the White House with his father (the White House chef). In the four episodes on this DVD, the stories have Cory messing up the Presidential Seal, Cory trying to come up with a new song for his band, Cory and his best friend Newt trying to meet women, and Cory getting caught in the middle of a feud between his other best friend Mina and an exchange student.

How or why “Cory In The House” made it to air is beyond me. The character of Cory is not only a poor role model to children, but he’s also a stereotypical obnoxious slacker screw-up character with a one track mind. I suppose one could argue the episodes have important morals about friendships and working out problems, but so what? Every kid show has these messages! Why would anyone want to get those messages from this embarrassing laugh track filled abomination?

One of the show’s other major issues is its depiction of life in the White House. The writers constantly have the characters pulling pranks and causing incidents (without being fired or removed) in the White House. Also, we see people (and a seal) wandering around the place freely. I have to wonder why they even bothered setting the show in the White House to begin with? This plot device is nothing more than a cheap, laughably bad gimmick.

The fullscreen picture quality is not sharp at all. Even though the show is quite recent, it looks as if it was shot in the early 90’s. The Dolby Digital audio track is better than the PQ, but the laugh track is much too loud.

Conclusion: You are better off watching any children’s show except this.
