The fourth volume of "Death Note" contains episodes 13-16 ("Confession," "Friend," "Wager," and "Decision"). Among the big events in these four episods are learning about Misa's past, Misa meeting Light, and a shocking turn of events in which both Misa and Light are caught by L.

Just when I thought the show couldn't get any better, the writers completely take me by surprise. I don't know if they will be able to keep this up, but each episode seems to outdo the last. Normally, most anime series do not seem to have any forward movement and are repetitive in their storytelling. That is not the case with "Death Note." The show moves fast and the writers appear to have a clear sense of where the show is headed. I am especially interested to see what will happen with Misa and Light. Misa clearly adores Light, but Light could care less about her. In addition, it's evident that Misa is careless and that her actions may end up ruining Light's plan. Will Light kill Misa? Can Light outsmart L? Time will tell.

Both the widescreen picture quality and the Dolby Digital Stereo audio track are top notch for an animated series. The sound and video are obviously not flawless, but the show looks and sounds crisper than most anime series.

Extras include production art, Shonen Jump Home Video and Manga ads, a sneak peek of "Buso Renkin," and a dull commentay on episode 14. There is also an 8 1/2 minute behind-the-scenes featurette on voice actress Shannon Chan-Kent.
