Review

Big changes are in store for fans of this long running NBC series as most of the stars from the shows beginning have departed with the exception of Noah Wylie as Carter.  While fans will feel the void left when Anthony Edwards (Dr. Greene) died in Season 8, the replacements hold their own in Season 9 with some surprising and dramatic shows throughout the season.
Highlights include Abby (Maura Tierney) dealing with her flipped out mother (Sally Field) again, Dr. Weaver (Laura Innes) making power plays and some moral decisions, Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston) tutoring a Dr. (Don Cheadle) hiding a disability,  a harrowing African experience for two of E.R's finest, and Dr. Romano's (Paul McCrane) deals with a life changing event in the season opener.  The intensity and hard-edged drama you have come to expect from this show has not changed although the actors have and this is still an exciting show to watch.  A highly intelligent, adult drama that is still relevant.
