The story: A scientist named Dan is called upon to investigate strange occurrences in a tiny fishing town. Upon arrival, he discovers that that something is indeed amiss as rumors of a giant squid-like beast begin popping up around town. Of course, folks believe it to be a hoax until townspeople start dying. Can the beast be stopped or will it destroy everything in its path?

Poor James Van Der Beek. While his co-stars Michelle Williams, Katie Holmes, and Joshua Jackson are off doing major Hollywood projects (or getting awards), James is stuck doing a Sci-Fi channel like movie about a giant CGI squid. But this isn’t an ordinary giant monster movie, it’s one for the Hall Of Shame record books. Having endured other “Maneater” films such as “Blood Monkey,” “Croc,” and “Maneater,” I can say without hesitation that “Eye Of The Beast” is the worst. Seriously fellow readers, this is as bad as cinema can get. You can expect to see lifeless characters that you want to be killed, incompetent direction by Gary Yates, awkward silences/beats in virtually every scene, suspense-less action, rubber tentacles galore and quite possibly some of the most horrendous acting one can witness (I’m talking about you Alexandra Castillo).

The only bonus feature is a “Maneater” series ad. I don’t know how many more of these “Maneater” films that I (or anyone else for that matter) can take.
