Review

"The Secret Of The Sword" is one long commercial to sell action figures.

"The Secret Of The Sword" is a feature film that is really just five episodes crammed together. The story revolves around Prince Adam journeying to Etheria to deliver a sword to someone who turns out to be She-Ra, his lost twin sister. Together, the two must fight Horga and the Evil Horde from their evil ways.

"The Secret Of The Sword" is another typical mediocre Filmation cartoon complete with laughable voice acting, an uninspired story, flat animation, and more exposition than anyone cares to hear. Even worse, a one-dimensional character seems to pop up on screen every five seconds. I'm pretty sure children brought more life into these characters when they played their toys.

Flaws aside, I will admit that the introduction of She-Ra was better than expected. It was fun to see her start out as a villain before she finds out about her past and destiny.

Extras include two trailers, a script, "I Have The Power" music video featurette, storyboard comparison, sheet music sing-a-long, and alternate and Spanish recordings. Also included is a commentary by Lou Scheimer, Larry Ditillio, Gwen Wetzler, Andy Mangels and Alan Oppenheimer.

Deep Impact-Collector's Edition

Category: Quick Reviews
http://paramount.com/homevideo Asteroid hits Earth films were popular a few years back (1998) and this was one of the best of the genre; much better than the more popular "Armegeddon". Starring a pre-hobbit Elijah Wood, teen star Leelee Sobieski, Tia Leoni, along with veterans Robert Duvall, Venessa Redgrave, Morgan Freeman and Maximillian Schell, this special effects extravaganza has a lot of heart as the cast deals with the coming of the "end". This special edition includes an extra disc filled with features about the special effects, and commentary from director Mimi Leder (ER) and Scott Farrar (special effects supervisor). Executive producer was Stephen Spielberg, music by James Horner, and effects by Industrial Light and Magic. A great re-release for Paramount and Dreamworks.
