Rhino Home Video puts together two double-disc collections (8 movies each) of daffy fright film failures, all with one thing in common...all of them are really, really lousy, which means bad cinema fans everywhere should look upon our "F" rating as a definite recommendation. Some are a lot more fun than others; "Stanley" and "The Crater Lake Monster" (both from volume 2) manage to be bad in the best way possible, while others, such as "Lurkers" (from volume 1), are truly terrible, but not as much goofy fun. Some of the films probably don't really qualify as horror movies ("Fleshburn", from volume 1, is more of a low-rent "Rambo"), but that's probably nitpicking. Most of these movies were originally released by Crown International Pictures, a 70's-era exploitation distributor that made American-International Pictures look like 20th Century Fox. Both collections offer more than enough fodder for ridicule, but if you can afford only one, go with volume 2.

Greatest American Hero-Season One

Category: Quick Reviews
This television series really shows its age in this first DVD set. The picture is a bit worn out and the acting in the pilot was far from perfect. William Katt is Ralph Hinkley, special education teacher, who gets a gift of a magical suit from some aliens, along with FBI agent Robert Culp. Problem is Hinkley loses the instruction manual. Culp has a good time as right wing Bill Maxwell and is a perfect foil for both Katt and his girl friend, Connie Selleca. The season one episodes got better as the cast grew more comfortable in their roles and there are some memorable and humorous episodes. A mixed review on this set from Anchor Bay.
