Review

The world of sketch comedy takes another silly walk around the world of popular culture, as seen through the sharp and witty minds of Aziz Ansari, Rob Huebel and Jack Scheer. These three gents, who cut their teeth in the stand up comedy world centered on the UCB Theater in New York, have crafted a show that rivals Mr. Show and Monty Python for sheer absurdity.
The three men revel in their obsessions with indie rock, film, television and bodily fluids, filling each of the nine episodes with surreal characters (the supernaturally talented magicians known as The Illusionators), insane situations (the hosts of a show called Let's Go face an existential crisis, the three video game store clerks who take a blood oath before they try a new restaurant for lunch) and moments of pure comedic excellence (the woman who owns a moving company that summons superhuman strength to carry heavy objects only when her son is at risk of being crushed by them).

This two-disc set also features a wealth of bonus material including deleted and extended scenes, highlights of the Human Giant 24 Marathon on MTV, and early footage of the comedy team in action.

Roswell-The Final Chapter

The third season of Roswell was a big disappointment, as I had enjoyed the series until this season. The characters I had learned to enjoy for their individual hangups and insecurities seemed to have turned into typical adolescenct teens with no particular purpose. The main characters of Jason Behr and Shiri Appleby are out of character as they go joyriding in episode one and get caught. The science fiction theme of teens left here on Earth takes a back seat in most episodes as the series evolves into a teen soap. Even the final episode is a let down. For a series that started with such potential, this last season is a real bummer.
