Review

"Hybrid" is another horrendous movie that is part of the "Maneater" series.

Logline: After being blinded in an accident, a man named Aaron gets an eye transplant in which he receives wolf eyes. Soon after the operation, Aaron begins to act like a wolf himself!

“Hybrid” is basically a rip-off of “The Eye” and the Jack Nicholson version of “Wolf” mixed with all the other painful elements that plague the never ending “Maneater” series. There’s the usual hack star (Justine Bateman), a laughable use of stock footage, bad acting, and of course a moronic plot that is nothing more than an excuse to show animal attacks. After seeing this film and several of the other films in the “Maneater” series, I really have to wonder how or why the series continues to be released on DVD. Are these discs really selling well and making money? I have a hard time believing that.

Final Thoughts: “Hybrid” may have not been given a rating, but I think an F rating is fitting for this made for TV fiasco.

The widescreen transfer is about the same as the “Maneater” films, which is to say not bad for a low budget film.

The Dolby Digital audio track is also decent enough, even though the dialogue and action sounds a bit low.

The only extra is an ad for the “Maneater” series.
