Review

Set in Argentina in 1976, Antonio Banderas plays a musical director whose wife (Emma Thompson) goes missing after she writes an article about other suspicious disappearances. Soon after, he's able to 'see' the other victims through physical contact with their loved ones. Despite good performances by the two leads, a harrowing (and seemingly endless) rape/torture scene, and skillful first-time direction by Christopher Hampton, this potentially intriguing premise is ultimately undone by its emotional aloofness. From Universal.

Mission Impossible-The Fourth TV Season

Category: Quick Reviews

Mission Impossible saw a ot of changes in the 4th season. The most noticeable was the departure of Martin Landau and wife Barbara Bain, who had won a number of Emmys for the show. They left over a salary dispute and ended up doing another series ;Space 1999. So Bruce Landsbury recruited the newly unemployed Leonard Nimoy (he'd been on an NBC show that had just been cancelled-Star Trek) to pick up Landau's role as a master of disguise and illusion. Barbara Bain's role as a woman regular was rotated throughout the season by a number of guest stars, most notably Lee Meriwether, who appeared in half a dozen episodes.
