Review

Massive mini-series produced by Steven Spielberg takes on the subject of westward expansion from different points of view. In the extras, writers and producers expressed their desire to produce a sensitive portrayal of all cultures involved and be fairly balanced so that the mini-series could be used by future generations in education to show as accurately as possible this period of our history. An all-star cast includes Keri Russell, Beau Bridges, Graham Greene, Matthew Modine, and a talented cast of native Americans. The series covers the period from Mountain Men reaching California , the Civil War, and ends after Wounded Knee. It is a powerful series, centered on two fictional families and highly recommended.
