Review

The phenomenal television series, "Jericho" reaches its conclusion in this two disc set that covers all 7 episodes of the series that was brought back from cancellation by its legions of fans. Unfortunately, fans are fickle and the series didn't get the ratings it needed to continue, which is unfortunate as this was a great show.
Set in a small Kansas town after a devastating nuclear attack on major cities in the US., season one dealt with survival, supplies and evolving relationships. The season ended with a cliffhanger and fans revolted when they heard CBS had canceled the show without a conclusion.
It was given new life by the fans' protests and CBS gave they writers and cast 7 episodes to prove itself . The task for the writers was not easy-condense a years worth of plot into 7 shows.
This dvd set offers those shows and also gives fans an alternate ending not shown (the ending where the show would have gone had it not been cancelled again). Other extras include features on building the set for "Jericho" and the action sequences in season two, plus a last look at the "Nuts" campaign that had CBS executives swimming in tons of peanuts.
This two disc set will have a lot of interest and I will miss the show. I think sometimes networks have to give a show a chance to develop and grow, which "Jericho" was doing but CBS did a cut and run in my opinion. Pick it up and enjoy the show for what it had.

This fancy boxed set included the 1956 version starring Charleton Heston as Moses, and also the original silent epic. For real film buffs, the inclusion of the silent film is the topper for this set. The set that came out a couple year's ago is as good as the transfer on this set for the 1956 film. Picture is not as sharp as I would like but colors are glorious. Same great remixed soundtrack in Dolby 5.1. I saw this set on sale at a local brick and mortar for a paltry $14.00 so pick this one up and you won't have to suffer through the new network mini-series or the original with commercials on ABC.
