This 2 disc set is a three television show set from Tom Snyder's Tomorrow Show, from 1975, 1979, and 1981. It features John Lennon's last television interview before his death, Paul and Linda McCartney before a London show with Wings via satellite, and a 1981 interview with Ringo and Barbara Bach.

This set's highlight is the John Lennon interview, who at the time was fighting to stay in the United States because of a trumped up immigration law violation. Lennon is brutally honest in his answers to Tom Snyder's questions and really shows a mature, evolved artist, brilliant in his appraoch to music and living his life after the Beatles. The show this was taken from was broadcast on December 9, 1980, a day after Lennon was killed. Snyder brings in Lisa Anderson, a rock reporter for the New York Times who had interviewed Lennon and visited him at home in the Dakota, and Jack Douglas, Lennon's last record producer , who at the time was devasted by the Lennon loss. The Lennon inteview is a real gem and worth th eprice of the disc alone.

Paul and Linda's interview is bit more upbeat and not as personable; although Paul is honest about his life with the Beatles and how his life style changed with Linda and children. He also delves into touring with Wings and his approach to a new group after the Beatles. Linda, when she is not making side comments, also talks about her photography, getting back to natural ways of living and meeting Paul.

Ringo's interview was done in Los Angeles and happened less than a year after Lennon's death. Ringo's in fine form; witty and he speaks about his poor self image and how he turned it around. He speaks only briefly about Lennon's death and you can tell the wounds are still deep. Ringo is joined by Barbara Bach at the end of this short interview.

Something I don't understand is why ShoutFactory decided to keep and include an interview with Angie Dickinson at the end of the Ringo show. It has absolutely no relevance to the rest of the disc set. Why it was not edited out is a mystery.

Picture quality varies, as these were all taken from video tapes; the Lennon interview is the oldest and suffers the most from image loss. The McCartney interview has other technical difficulties ; glitches and occastional picture breakup. The Ringo interview is by far the best of the three in picture quality.

Sound is television mono but since its a talk show, no problems in understanding anyone.

This is a great dvd set for Beatle fans, with three of the fab four being open and honest about their present state of mind, and reflecting about the Beatle years. It's a must buy for fans. Just skip the Angie Dickenson part.

Red Road

Category: Quick Reviews
The story: Jackie is a woman whose work consists of monitoring security cameras across Scotland. On one particular day, she spots a familiar man on the camera that gets her worked up. Soon, she begin to not only spy on this man, but follow him in person. Who is this man? What has he done to Jackie? What does Jackie have in store for this mystery man? From the opening five minutes, I could tell "Red Road" was going to suck me in. It's near impossible not to become entranced by the quiet mystery/thriller that becomes more intense with each passing moment. It doesn't hurt that "Red Road" also has skillful direction by up and comer Andrea Arnold and a tour-de-force performance by Kate Dickie. I am utterly baffled as to why Kate Dickie was overlooked by the Oscars. This is far and away one of the most moving and intriguing performances by an actress in years. Highly recommended. Extras include a photo gallery and trailers for "Red Road," "Battle In Heaven," "Milwaukee Minnesota," "The Page Turner," "The Cave Of The Yellow Dog," and "The Death Of Mr. Lazarescu." Also included is a solid dramatic short film about a struggling single mother titled "Wasp." "Red Road" is presented in anamorphic widescreen with Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio tracks.
