Review

This Coen brothers film is a remake of a English Alec Guiness classic film from the late 50's with Tom Hanks leading the pack of criminals set on robbing a gambling establishment under the nose of a elderly widow. While true classic film buffs will consider it a rip-off of the original, I thought the film with its Southern atmosphere and the comic performances of the cast make this a worthwhile remake with plenty of dark humor. Extras include a hilarious slap reel with Marlon Wayans (who puts in a great comedy performance)gospel music numbers, and an interesting biography of Danny Ferrington, master instrument maker. A great rent or pick this up in the discount bin now for under $10.00.

Hannah Montana "Life's What You Make It" is a four episode compilation of her latest season of episodes from the very, very popular singer Miley Cyrus aka Hannah Montana. Having a tween in our household made me a very popular guy when this package arrived for review from Disney. On this disc, Miley/Hannah must deal with starting high school, revealing her identity to a boyfriend, traveling alone for the first time and facing the possibility of her career coming to an end. Major issues for this model teen, who has positive influences on tweens around the world. Also on the disc, which is tailored for the tween audience, is a look at Miley's closet of clothes and a music video from dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, called "Ready, Set, Don't Go", which addresses his daughters fame and how he wants her to stay "normal" regardless of her fame and fortune. So far, his influence and tight control has worked for Miley and she has become a powerful, positive influence on tweens everywhere.
