The story: Wanting to make something of herself, Belinda decides to become a doctor. This wouldn't be a problem in today's world, but as the story is set in the past, the men in her town (and in her life) feel she should stay at home and become a housewife. Believing that God wants her to become a doctor, Belinda decides to prove she can accomplsh her goal to everyone. There are also subplots regarding a romance between Belinda and Drew and a family in need of help and kindness.

I have no problems when films have inspirational messages or plots, but I do have a problem when films (such as "Love's Unfolding Dream") cram themes down your throat. There's a fine line between being subtle and being overly preachy, and 'Dream' is anything but subtle. The simple minded ideas are clearly (and repeatedly) stated. With that said, I do realize that the works of Oke are adored by many, and that is fine. Her stories do have valuable life lessons for the whole family, I just wish they were written better.
