The story: An average drunken family man named Oh Dae-Su is kidnapped and taken to a strange prison which looks more like a hotel room. After spending 15 long years there, he is released back into the world for reasons unknown. Full of anger, Oh Dae-Su vows to seek revenge against who jailed him, but first he needs to find out whom is responsible. Is someone Oh knows playing a deadly game with him? "Oldboy" is a wholly original, violent, surrealistic mystery that will grab your attention from the very first to the last frame. From the unpredictable screwed up ending to the fantastic tracking shot in which Oh takes on 20 thugs with a single hammer, this is one revenge film you will never forget. The 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen picture quality has some grain, but overall this is the best Tartan DVD transfer I have seen to date. The disc contains 3 audio tracks: Korean Dolby Digital Ex 5.1, English Dubbed Dolby Digital Ex 5.1, and a Korean 5.1 DTS track, all of which are perfectly suitable for this film.
