Review

“Pulse 2” is one of the worst horror sequels in recent memory.

The logline: An emotionally disturbed divorced mother and her former husband separately search for their daughter in a world that has been overrun by the dead (who appear via technology).

After Katee Sackhoff (Starbuck on “Battlestar Galactica”) starred in a poor horror sequel (“White Noise 2”), Jamie Bamber (Apollo on “Battlestar Galactica”) followed suite by starring in the sequel no one wanted- “Pulse 2”. How or why this was made is anyone’s guess, but it’s here nonetheless. Unless you love watching stilted acting, hideous green screen work on nearly every scene, and embarrassingly idiotic character actions, you best steer clear of this one. This is very much a cheap thrown together sequel with very little much imagination.

It’s a real shame talented actor Jamie Bamber wasted his time on this project as he’s clearly a gifted actor. My advice: watch the original “Pulse” (AKA “Kairo”) and skip the re-make and its sequel.

The widescreen picture quality is solid considering how atrocious the green screen work is.

The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track is far from great, but it’s sufficient enough.

Extras: Dimension trailers (including “Pulse 3”), two deleted scenes, and an overstuffed commentary with Joel Soisson, Michael Leahy, Kevin O’Neill, Gary J. Turncliffe, Kirk Morri, Christian Agypt, Ron Vecchiarelli.
